Above Ground with Rhydian Lewis

Above Ground - a true story

This heart felt musical journey through a time where miners strikes would bring down governments, of social unrest and where Margaret Thatcher would cement her reputation as the Iron Lady.

Rhydian was a teenager during this unsettling time, but at his coal mining father's bequest, he was about to enter a new stage - as a coal miner.

However, Rhydian was always drawn to music and dance and worked in the entertainment business on Spain's Sunshine Coast as a break dancing rapper. The coal mine was a dark, stark contrast to the clubs and exotic lifestyle he had onced graced.

Above Ground is a unique and honest show that uses the music that has influenced Rhydian's life and shows us the importance of music and stories in our day-to-day lives.

Rhydian is joined on stage by world renowned pianist, Cleon Barraclough. The duo perform the songs that are forever imprinted within history from his own personal perspective. The show features iconic songs by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tom Jones and many more.

“Following your heart is inevitable and undeniable, just don’t leave it until your last moment” - Rhydian Lewis.

Duration: Approx 90 minutes, no interval
